Visible Chest Wall Movement: Not Breathing – Ventilation

Once chest wall movement has been detected, but the baby is still not breathing ventilation breaths of a rate of 30 per minute is required for 30 seconds.

After 30 seconds of ventilations as demonstrated in the video – reassess the newborn.

The ventilations rate is aimed at achieving 15 ventilations in 30 seconds – with just enough pressure to see chest wall rise.

REMINDER: Ventilations are undertaken using room air.
