Structured Approach to Initial Newborn Support: Thermal Support

Dry and wrap the baby in a warm towel, leaving the face and chest exposed.

Intact cord resuscitation can be maintained when support is provided between the mothers’ legs – this will also help with communication between you and the parent/s.

Place a thermal mattress underneath the baby as a radiant heat source to help prevent hypothermia.

Reminder: Newborn Life Support takes priority over delayed cord clamping.
