Introductions

This module contains a series of recordings of a question time session, discussing the mental capacity act and mental health act.

The host is Matthew Graham, Senior Lecturer in Social Work at UCLan. On the panel is Doug Feery, Barrister at Law, Steven Lockley, AMP operations manager at Lancashire County Council, Craig Hayden, Mental Health Liaison Lead at NWAS and Andy McGinty, Police sergeant and Mental Health co-ordinator.

The question time session answers questions relating to:
• The use of the mental health act for a person presenting in mental health crisis,
• what legislation can support ambulance staff if a person does not have capacity,
• what can ambulance staff or the police do if a person is refusing to open the door,
• the use of the vital act, and
• what act applies for a person under 16.
