Course Description

This e-learning is designed to:

  • Give an insight into Service life and culture
  • Highlight the ‘unique obligations and sacrifices’ made by the Armed Forces Community
  • Use the ‘voice’ of members of this community to give an insight into their lived experiences
  • Explain the Armed Forces Covenant and the new Covenant Duty
  • Explain what staff need to be able to do to support this community
  • Provide staff with sources of information and support to use in their role or to pass on to members of the Armed Forces Community

Outcomes

The outcomes of this e-learning are to:

  • raise awareness of the Armed Forces Covenant and Covenant Duty and how they may be applied
  • provide insight into the lived experience of members of the Armed Forces community, in particular the unique obligations and sacrifices they may make
  • support organisations to implement the Covenant and Covenant Duty more effectively
  • enable participants to be able to apply the Covenant and Covenant Duty to their areas of responsibility
  • improve support and services to the Armed Forces Community

Target audience/Who is this e-learning for?

This e-learning is for anyone working within a public sector or other organisation across the whole of the UK and NI who needs to understand what the Armed Forces Covenant is, that there is now a Covenant Duty which applies within Education, Housing and Healthcare and how the Armed Forces community can be supported.

In terms of roles, this e-learning is appropriate for those involved in a ‘customer facing’ role in any part of the organisation.

Pre-requisite

An introductory module to the Armed Forces Covenant and Community has already been published and shared by Warwickshire County Council.  This brief module forms a starting point for understanding the Covenant etc. and it is assumed that those undertaking this module have already completed the introductory module.
