Coaching and Mentoring

Coaching is a key tool for career and personal development, to realise aspirations, improve leadership skills and increase your overall resilience.

Coaching is a collaborative, solution-focused, results-orientated and systematic process between a coach and coachee where techniques, such as skilled questioning is used which helps you to unlock your full potential, with many areas linked to NWAS’ Be Think Do leadership framework.

We also have a number of qualified staff who help support our NWAS Response Coaching intervention – a group of qualified NWAS coaching staff who, alongside their full-time roles, provide coaching to in need areas of NWAS, as identified through Staff Survey and other metrics such as sickness, absence and grievance.

Testimonials

“At first, I was sceptical about coaching and I wasn’t too sure what added value it would bring to me. To access coaching was really easy and the L&OD was exceptionally supportive with the application process. I had a chemistry session with my coach to explain the areas that I would like to develop. It was really good and broke the ice. At this point you can make a decision if the coach was a match for you – it’s a little bit like a date, before the official sessions! We built rapport quickly and knew that we would be a great match.

I remember being really nervous about my first session. I’ve never been to a professional coaching session previously. I didn’t know what to expect. I knew the coach from the chemistry session – and we met away from any NHS venue, I felt safe, and it was informal and relaxed.

I was in a difficult place at work, faced with a situation that was going through a HR process. It affected my self-confidence, ability and purpose. Coaching has helped personally and professionally. Having the ability to talk to a professional coach and receive the coaching and development to support me through the difficult times I was facing.

Coaching has really helped to regain my confidence, relight my passion and allowed me to support me personally and professionally.”
